Making Changes

I have to share with everyone one of my all time favorite books: The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy.  This book has EVERYTHING to do with fitness but can be put to use in every aspect of life.  The message is so clear and so simple it makes me wonder why we don't all live like this already.    All the choices we make, even small ones, will "compound" over time into the life we will eventually have.  So if you want to save a million dollars, start putting a little bit away and eventually it will add up.   If you want to grow an orchard, start by planting some seeds, tending them and watching them grow.  If you want to lose 20 pounds, start cutting a few calories and moving a little more each day. The virtues necessary for success via the compound effect are patience and consistency.  With those two attributes we can accomplish anything.  This is the message we give to Challenge Group participants all the time.  You will not see immediate results.  Nothing happens over night.  Small changes in diet and exercise WILL produce results if you can be patient and consistent.  This book is fantastic and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting or needing to make some changes but just need a little push.
